The Reunion Festivities

Reunion festivities will commence on Wednesday, September 29th with the cake cutting opening ceremony starting at 6:00pm, since the hotel will not allow check-in until 4:00pm.  Ceremony will take place in the Sperry Hospitality Room, which is designated the “Bogue Falaya Room”.  The oldest and youngest shipmates present will do the honor of the first cuts of the cake.  Bring your cameras.

So after you check in to the hotel around 4:00pm and get your belongings stowed in your room, proceed then to the “Bogue Falaya Room” for the Association Registration from 4:00pm to 6:00pm, to receive your Reunion Packet containing your Reunion Booklet, your name tags, schedule of events for the tours, agenda for the business meeting on Saturday morning.

After the Business Meeting is concluded, you will have a free day to sight see on your own until time for the Banquet Dinner festivities, which will begin with social hour and cash bar at 5:00pm in the Ponchartrain Room.  Dinner to be served at 6:00pm

 

TOURS

TOUR #1, Thursday, 30 September 2010       To New Orleans

            9:00am            Depart hotel

            9:45am            Arrive WWII D/Day Museum in New Orleans

Museum has several parts and will include a movie

Lunch will be at the canteen in the Museum

After lunch the buses will take us to the French Quarters    where everyone can walk around for a couple hours on your own

Return trip to hotel in late afternoon

Total cost of $45 per person, which includes bus fare, museum fee & lunch

TOUR#2, Friday, 1 October 2010                             To Baton Rouge

            9:00am            Depart hotel

            10:20am          Arrive at USS Kidd (DD-661) in scenic downtown
                                   Baton Rouge

A tour of the ship will take place and there is a very nice museum to see.  Also the staff will have several programs for us.

Lunch will be catered at the USS Kidd followed by free time to peruse the museum and area

Return trip to hotel in late afternoon

Total cost of $40 per person, which includes bus fare, entrance fees to USS Kidd and Museum and your lunch 

There will be NO TOUR planned for Saturday, 2 October 2010
